Pure Duplicator

Duplicates a comp and everything nested inside it, one version up, without typing a name. Expressions follow the new names automatically.

Quick start

Select the comp you want to version up.
Open the panel. Window → Extensions → Pure Duplicator
Press Duplicate (Version +1). That’s the whole operation.

The panel reports what happened: how many comps were duplicated, and how many expressions were repointed.

How names are worked out

You never type a name. Pure Duplicator reads the number already in the comp name and increments it, keeping the padding and the letter case you were using.

It won’t overwrite an existing version. The new name is based on the highest version that already exists, not on the comp you selected. Open pure_v001 when the project already contains pure_v005, duplicate it, and you get pure_v006. Going back to an old version to branch from it can’t clobber your newest work.

Options

Option	What it does
Create new folder	Puts the new version in its own folder.
Sub-comps in subfolder	Files the nested comps under `Pre-comps`. Available when the option above is on.
Open after duplication	Opens the new top-level comp when it’s done.
Fix expressions	Repoints `comp("…")` references to the new names. A single pass, so a name can’t be substituted twice.

Limits

Situation	Behaviour
Nothing selected	The panel asks you to select a composition first — it does not guess.
Expression edge cases	Fix expressions rewrites `comp("…")` references by name. An expression that builds a comp name at runtime cannot be rewritten, and is left alone.
